STM32 Wireless Innovation contest: conclusion

I joined the STM32 Wireless Innovation contest 2024 from Elektor Magazine and STMicroelectroncis and I finished at the 3rd place!

I recently joined the STM32 Wireless Innonvation contest proposed by Elektor Magazine and STMicroelectronics. The goal of this contest was to propose a wireless innovation with a developement kit featuring a microcontroller from STMicroelectronic’s STM32WB portfolio. I chose to connect my house’s electricity meter with the Matter over Thread protocol, leading to “The electric meter that Matters”.

The contest was running from October 2023 to March 2024. On March 7th, I received the awesome email that I was selected in the five potential winners among the 26 participants. I was then asked to prepare a nice video to explain more about my project, and getting ready for the award ceremony at the Embedded World exhibition in Nuremberg, on April 10th.

During the award ceremony at STMicroelectronic’s booth, I met the other finalists. Four of us five are French, we’re proud! Then comes the crucial moment, the rankings… And I’m third, I’m on the podium! I’m very proud of it.

I came on stage, spoke a bit about my project and of course, we took some pictures together! You can read the article on Elektor to learn more about the other projects and participants. The official video from Elektor gives you an overview of the ceremony.

I’m very happy about my ranking. I earned more than money; I raised my knowledge and my ability to explain and showcase some technical projects. More than that, it was the perfect occasion for networking as we had a cocktail after the ceremony.

The prize I earned will help to improve my maker’s lab. Indeed, I plan to buy a 3D printer and a CNC-Milling machine. It will help me to have fast and unique prototypes of PCBs as well as their enclosing and accessories.

I’m very thankful to Elektor Magazine and STMicroelectronics for the very nice organization of the contest and the ceremony. It was a real chance to be on stage on the biggest and greatest booth of Embedded World.

I would also like to say many thanks for my managers at Psicontrol. They gave me the opportunity to have this trip for my professionnal and personnal interests. Thanks to my colleagues for the cheering and pictures during the reveal. Finally thanks to my fiancée for her support and help during the project!

Stay tuned for the next projects and contest in the pipeline! My new tooling will bring more content in the near future.
